What is Youth Apprenticeship?
You will  spend part of your school day with your mentor at an approved worksite.
You and your mentor are guided by an official training plan developed by your employer, your Work Based Learning Coordinator and you.
Regular feedback on your progress is given to you by your mentor and your WBL Coordinator.
Your successful completion of 450 hours of on-the-job training may result in a job offer after high school graduation!
You earn a skills certificate from the Department of Labor.
You also earn weighted high school credits as a Youth Apprentice.

How Do I Become a Youth Apprentice?
Step 1 Speak to your high school's Work Based Learning Coordinator (WBL) and let them know you're interested in the Youth Apprentice Program. Review the Current Openings and find one that aligns to your skills and career interests.
Step 2 Complete and submit an application packet to your WBL, not the employer, by the deadlines before the semester.
Step 3 FCPS will send your application to employers who will contact you for an interview.  If hired, you will work with your WBL to coordinate your school schedule and get the Youth Apprentice Program Agreement and disclosures signed by all parties.
